Under normal circumstances, we meet every week

on Thursdays from 7 - 9 pm

at the Mayfair Community Centre

in Church Stretton. All adults are welcome, including:

  • people who have always wanted to sing but who don’t have the confidence
  • people who have sung in the past and now feel a bit of harmony is missing from their lives...

We’re also happy to encourage younger members

if they are accompanied by a parent or other responsible adult.

To find out more about the choir please email via the contacts page

or call our artistic director Kate Buttolph on 07974 382 989

Recent news:

During June and July 2020, seven members of the choir have been working with artistic diretor Kate to record Firefly, a song in memory of Hannah Pickles. You can hear the recording below. If you would like to purchase a copy please email via the contacts page.

Profits will be donated to The Mayfair Centre, where Hannah was a volunteer

on the Breathing Space Singing For Health & Wellbeing project.

Firefly

(for Hannah)

Dear firefly, how we will miss your light

and such a sound of gold in your voice

and watching you ignite

as you think of a cheeky remark,

Dear bright spark.

Flickering in and out of our lives

with a silly dance and a vibrant smile

now we sing our goodbye

to our firefly.

Ho, ho hotaru koi. Atchi no mizu was nigai zo.

Kotchi no mizu wa amaizo. Ho, ho hotaru koi.

Take flight, flickering, flickering

Take flight, flickering, flickering firefly.

Translation of

traditional Japanese song:

Come, come firefly.

Over there the water is foul.

Over here the water is sweet.

Come, come firefly.

Many thanks to the Pickles family for choosing and providing this picture of their

cherished Hannah.
